Manufactured by Nissan Motors, Nissan Silvia was introduced to the Japanese market in 1965. The car has various engine configurations available in both coupe and convertible body styles. It was Nissan's first mass-produced car with a turbocharged engine. The car was highly popular in Japan and exported to different countries worldwide.

Silvia is a popular choice for car enthusiasts looking for a reliable and affordable vehicle. Although it's been discontinued, many still swear by this car. Check our detailed review so you can make a decision about whether or not it's the right car for you.

History of the Classic Silvia

The Nissan Silvia S13, S14, and S15 are a series of sports cars produced between 1988 and 2002. The S13 initially served as Nissan's entry into the small, lightweight coupé market, replacing the outgoing Nissan 200SX (S12).

Though the car was never officially exported outside of Asia and Oceania, it gained popularity among enthusiasts in North America and Europe through gray market imports. Eventually, the 200SX (S14) model entered the North American market.

Silvia's chassis was also used as the basis for the Nissan 180SX and the Nissan 240SX (S13) in North America and the Nissan 200SX (S14) in Europe.

The car was available in a variety of different colors, including popular choices such as white, black, and red. It was a popular choice for modification, and many enthusiasts still modify it and drive in amateur races.

A Detailed Review of Nissan Silvia

Over the years, Nissan Silvia has achieved a cult status among small circles of motorheads. Even though it's officially off the market, this Japanese beauty is still what many people dream of. So, what made the S13, S14, and S15 so special? Let's take a look at some of their most iconic features.

Nissan Silvia S13

The Nissan Silvia S13 was a true game-changer when it was introduced in mid-1988. It was produced from 1988 to 1993 and was available in a coupe and convertible body styles. The model was powered by a range of inline-four engines ranging from 1.8 to 2.0 liters.

The S13 was available in four different models: the Standard, the Q's, the K's, and the J's. The Standard model was the base model and was the only version available in North America. It was equipped with a 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission.

The S13 was Silvia's first model to have a turbocharged engine. It produced 180 horsepower and could propel from 0 to 60 mph in just over seven seconds. It had another engine option that could generate 140 horsepower.

The rear-wheel-drive model was lightweight and had a tremendous power-to-weight ratio. Its timeless design still looks modern today. The car's wide stance gives it more stability and makes it easier to drift.

Nissan Silvia S14

The S13 was discontinued after the 1993 model year and replaced by the S14, which was based on the Nissan S platform. This S14 model of Nissan Silva had been produced until 1998.

The car was available in a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter turbo engine and another base engine of 2.4-liter. The turbocharged version was available with either a manual or automatic transmission.

The model was available in several different engine configurations over its production run. The most popular engine model was the SR20DET, a turbocharged inline-four available in both the S13 and S14 generations.

The S14 came out as another iconic variant of the series. Its new body kit helped with aerodynamic improvements, which made the handling even better. The initial sales of this model were less than impressive. It became popular among drifters and car racers in the later years.
